War Child UK announces new heavyweight gaming partnerships for Armistice 2018

Bethesda Softworks®, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, Gameloft, Wargaming.net, IGG.com, Playstack and more on board; partnership opportunities still available

London, 6th September 2018: War Child UK has announced today an impressive first round of confirmed partners for its Armistice activation, which will see brand new content created on different platforms around the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War One.

Bethesda Softworks®, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, IGG and Playstack have all pledged support for the first time, while former partners World of Tanks (Wargaming.net) and Gameloft are set to make a welcome return having supported the project in past years.

Armistice is an annual fundraiser aiming to create a global movement to inspire the gaming community to take action and raise vital funds for children whose lives have been torn apart by war. Created by War Child UK and it’s US partner Children in Conflict, Armistice promotes peaceful gameplay in the month of November to coincide with Armistice Day on November 11th.

Gamers have the opportunity to donate a small fee for new DLC and in-app purchases of their favourite games, or even an entire brand-new game, created by industry heavyweights across various platforms.

“We’re thrilled with the support we’ve received so far, with some of the best developers and publishers in the world pledging their time and resources,” said Wayne Emanuel, Gaming Partnerships Manager at War Child UK. “The offer to gamers this year is better than ever, fitting for the 100th anniversary of Armistice, while publishers and developers have a great opportunity to connect with their players in a new way – all in support of a great cause. We’re always looking for more partnerships and opportunities in the gaming space and look forward to announcing more in the coming months.”

War Child UK and Children in Conflict have raised over $390,000 since starting Armistice in 2016 and has been supported by eighteen of the largest conflict themed games in the world including Verdun (BlackMill Games and M2H), World of Tanks (Wargaming.net), Total War (Creative Assembly/SEGA), Respawnables (Digital Legends), March of Empires (Gameloft), DomiNations (Big Huge Games), Dragon City (Social Point) and many more.

The games industry presents huge opportunities in fundraising with a solid, forward-thinking consumer base and levels of engagement that are constantly the envy of every other entertainment sector. War Child UK, well-known for their fundraising via music, continue to increase their gaming activity and have a number of upcoming projects and partnerships to keep an eye out for.

Confirmed content, as well as surrounding activities in support of Armistice, will be announced later this year.

ABOUT WAR CHILD UK

War Child is striving for a world where children’s lives are no longer torn apart by war.

We protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children caught up in conflict. We aim to reach children as early as possible when conflict breaks out, and stay to support them through their recovery - helping to keep them safe, give them an education, and equip them with skills for the future.

We understand children’s needs, respect their rights, and put them at the centre of the solution - from supporting Syrian children to access education, to reintegrating child soldiers in the Central African Republic and promoting justice for young people in detention in Afghanistan. Together with our partners we work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and Latin America.

We also work with children and young people to change systems and practices that affect them – campaigning on the root causes of conflict and demanding that children are at the centre of humanitarian response.
